Cristian Chivu is officially the new head coach of Inter Milan. The club confirmed the appointment in a statement, announcing that the Romanian has signed a contract running through to 2027. Chivu, who turns 45 in October, wore the Inter jersey as a player from 2007 to 2014 and began his coaching journey with the club four years later.
His coaching career with the Nerazzurri began at youth level, starting with the Under-14s and gradually moving up through the Under-17 and Under-18 sides. In the summer of 2021, he took the reins of the Primavera team, leading them to the youth Scudetto in his first season — the club’s tenth at that level. He stepped away from Inter at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
In February 2025, Chivu was handed his first senior team opportunity, taking over at Parma with the club in a difficult position in Serie A. In just 13 matches, he collected 16 points and successfully steered the Gialloblù to safety.
Now, Chivu embarks on a new chapter at Inter — his third, after his playing and youth coaching stints — this time at the helm of the first team.
