The long-running saga appears to be coming to an end. Victor Osimhen is set to leave Napoli, five years after that iconic handshake with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis on a yacht in Ischia. The breakdown between player and club had become irreparable after last summer’s transfer window, which ended with the striker left out of the squad and a last-minute Galatasaray deal collapsing in September.
Now, the 25-year-old is on his way to Istanbul, at least for the next two seasons. Talks between the two clubs resumed recently, and a breakthrough was reached after Galatasaray accepted some of Napoli’s key demands. The agreement includes financial guarantees and structured payments: €40 million up front, followed by €35 million to be paid by 2026.
A critical part of the deal is the “anti-Italy” clause: Galatasaray will be prohibited from selling Osimhen to any Serie A club until 2027. Breaching the clause would trigger a significant penalty, effectively doubling the cost of the transfer. A strategic move by Napoli to prevent any unwelcome surprises.
Napoli have already secured a replacement for Osimhen. Lorenzo Lucca has joined the squad at the club’s training camp in Dimaro. The striker arrives on loan from Udinese for €9 million, with a mandatory buyout clause set at €26 million. He will sign a six-year contract with the Azzurri.
Another signing is also on the way: Sam Beukema, the Dutch centre-back from Bologna, is set to reinforce the defence. Napoli will pay €30 million plus bonuses for the deal. Beukema will undergo medical tests at Villa Stuart before heading to Trentino to join manager Antonio Conte’s squad.
