Aaron Ramsey, the former Juventus and Arsenal midfielder, has signed a one-year deal with Pumas in Mexico

Following his stint with Cardiff City in the Championship, where injuries limited him to just eight appearances last season, Ramsey is now set to join Liga MX, a league that has recently attracted several European stars including André-Pierre Gignac, Florian Thauvin, and Sergio Ramos.

Ramsey, who will turn 35 in December, terminated his contract with Cardiff in mid-June, paving the way for this new adventure. The announcement came directly from Pumas on Thursday evening, confirming the signing and highlighting the historic nature of the move: Ramsey will become the first British player to wear the Pumas jersey.

Club president Luis Raul Gonzalez Perez expressed his excitement about the signing: “It is an honour to officially introduce a great player. Today marks the beginning of a new era for Pumas. I recently had the opportunity to meet Aaron and was impressed by his vision for the club, which went beyond what we had hoped for. I was able to share with him what Pumas represent and make him understand that he aligns with our values of respect, tolerance, and fairness".

In the upcoming season, Ramsey will have the chance to showcase his talent in a new environment, with a fresh challenge awaiting him as he prepares to face off against players like Sergio Ramos in the Mexican top flight.
