Real Madrid confirm Xabi Alonso as new head coach: contract until 2028

Xabi Alonso is officially the new manager of Real Madrid. The appointment had been widely expected, and the club confirmed the news via an official statement on their website.

“Real Madrid announces that Xabi Alonso will be the head coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2028. Xabi Alonso is a club legend and one of the greatest players in world football history. He made 236 appearances for Real Madrid between 2009 and 2014, winning six trophies. He now returns as one of the top managers in the game, having made history at Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the German Super Cup over three seasons.”

Xabi Alonso will be unveiled later today in a press conference scheduled for 12:30 PM, after signing his contract alongside club president Florentino Pérez.
