The summer transfer window is heating up with two major deals. The first sends shockwaves through Serie A: Mateo Retegui, last season’s top scorer, is leaving Atalanta for Saudi side Al Qadsiah. The club has tabled an irresistible €68 million package, including bonuses, to secure the Argentine striker. Atalanta’s asking price was €70 million, with negotiations seeing the Saudi club raise their offer from €45 million up to €65 million before closing in on the final figure through structured add-ons. Retegui is expected to sign a four-year deal worth €16 million per season plus €4 million in bonuses annually, potentially taking the total value of the deal up to €80 million if he sees out the full contract in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Premier League continues to spend big. Mohammed Kudus has become Tottenham’s latest signing after the club agreed a £75 million fee with West Ham. The 25-year-old Ghanaian, who made his name at Ajax, will remain in England after a season in which he scored five goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances for the Hammers. Kudus, who can play across the entire front line, will be one of the first key additions for new Spurs manager Thomas Frank.
