Roma have officially parted ways with sporting director Florent Ghisolfi following growing friction with the club's ownership. After reports emerged on Monday night, the Frenchman has now agreed to a mutual termination of his contract.
The decision follows a heated confrontation with the Friedkin family, who were reportedly frustrated with how Ghisolfi handled the Mile Svilar situation. The goalkeeper came close to a contract termination, which was only averted by the intervention of Claudio Ranieri. Strained relationships with key agents — including Saelemaekers’ representative — and failed moves such as Angelino’s sale and stalled youth renewals also contributed to the split.
Ghisolfi departs just days after Gian Piero Gasperini’s presentation as new head coach, and his exit follows those of Daniele De Rossi and former CEO Lina Souloukou. Chief financial officer Lorenzo Vitali is also out, replaced by Jason Morrow, and Roma have confirmed that a new CEO will be appointed shortly.
Leading the race to become Roma’s new sporting director is Frederic Massara — a familiar face at Trigoria. Massara previously worked alongside Walter Sabatini and held both general secretary and sporting director roles at the club in 2019. His recent experience at Milan and Rennes has boosted his profile, and talks with Roma are already underway.
