The Giallorossi dominate at the Olimpico and close in on the top six, while Monza slips deeper into relegation trouble

Roma extended their unbeaten run to ten Serie A matches with a commanding 4-0 victory over Monza, further strengthening their push for a European spot. Now just two points behind Fiorentina, the Giallorossi are firmly in the race for a top-six finish, with Bologna and Milan also in the mix as they await their rescheduled fixture.

Despite making only a few changes, Ranieri relied on Hummels in defense alongside Mancini and N’Dicka. In midfield, Pisilli partnered with Cristante, while Baldanzi and Soulé supported Shomurodov up front. Monza, on the other hand, fielded a lineup similar to their recent clash with Lecce, with Lekovic and Brorsson stepping in for the unavailable D’Ambrosio and Izzo.

The hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance, breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute with a moment of brilliance from Saelemaekers. The Belgian winger feinted a cross, sending Kyriakopoulos the wrong way, before curling a stunning left-footed strike past Turati. Roma doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Soulé delivered a pinpoint cross for Shomurodov, who powered home a header. Monza’s only real chance of the first half came through Ganvoula, but his low effort was superbly denied by Svilar.

The second half followed the same script, with Roma in total control and Monza struggling to react due to a depleted squad. The third goal arrived in the 73rd minute when Angelino latched onto a pass from Cristante and unleashed a trademark left-footed strike into the far corner. Cristante himself completed the rout, heading in a Dybala corner to make it 4-0.

This result keeps Roma firmly in the hunt for European qualification, while Monza sinks to nine points adrift of safety, facing an increasingly difficult survival battle. Up next, the Giallorossi take on Como, the last team to defeat them in Serie A, while Monza will face Torino in another challenging fixture.
