The 2025/26 Serie A season will officially begin on Sunday, August 24, with opening matches starting on Saturday the 23rd. This marks a return to a slightly later kickoff after several years of mid-August starts. The decision, approved by the Lega Serie A Board, came in response to club requests to delay the opening weekend and allow more recovery time following international tournaments.
While the full matchday schedule is still being finalized, three international breaks have already been penciled in to accommodate Italy’s World Cup qualifiers. There will be no league games on the weekend of September 7, as the national team faces Estonia (Sept 5) and Israel (Sept 8). Another break follows in mid-October for the return fixtures against the same nations (Oct 11 and 14), and a final pause is set for November 16, when the Azzurri play Moldova (Nov 13) and Norway (Nov 16).
The summer transfer window will remain open during the early rounds of the season, officially closing on Monday, September 1, giving clubs extra flexibility to adjust their squads.
The final matchday of the Serie A campaign is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, setting the stage for a summer filled with international competitions and European club finals.
