Round two results from Paris: Sinner cruises past Gasquet in his farewell match, Djokovic handles Moutet, Zverev wins in four

It was a day without major upsets at Roland Garros, as all the top seeds stayed on track in the men’s draw.

Jannik Sinner showed no mercy to Richard Gasquet, who played the final match of his professional career. The world No. 1 won 6-3, 6-0, 6-4, sending the French veteran off with a standing ovation on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Novak Djokovic also made light work of his second-round opponent, beating another Frenchman, Corentin Moutet, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6, in a match he largely controlled. Jack Draper dropped one set but still got the job done against Gaël Monfils, while Alexander Zverev needed four sets to get past Jesper de Jong.

In the all-Italian showdown, Flavio Cobolli got the better of Matteo Arnaldi. Elsewhere, Ugo Humbert was forced to retire against Fearnley, while Denis Shapovalov was stunned by Filip Misolic, who came from behind to win in five sets.

Ethan Quinn defeated Alexander Shevchenko, Cameron Norrie knocked out Emilio Gomez, and teenage sensation João Fonseca continued his dream run by beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Also advancing to the next round were Andrey Rublev, Tallon Griekspoor, Alexander Bublik, Henrique Rocha, Jiří Lehečka, and Arthur Fils.
