Snoop Dogg is stepping into the world of football as a new co-owner and high-profile investor in Swansea City. The Welsh club, which was part of the Premier League just a few years ago, announced the news through an official statement, confirming rumours that had circulated after the rapper made a playful appearance on the club’s social media channels in a light-hearted jab at Ryan Reynolds and his Wrexham side.
“Swansea City is delighted to announce that global rap superstar and multi-platinum artist Snoop Dogg has become the club’s latest high-profile co-owner and investor”, the club said in its statement.
Snoop Dogg commented on the move: “My love for football is well known, but to own a club like Swansea is special. The history of the team and the area really grabbed me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites – just like me”.
Swansea CEO Tom Gorringe added: “It’s incredibly exciting to officially welcome Snoop Dogg as a co-owner and investor in Swansea City. He’s passionate about the project and is helping us expand the club’s reach to a much broader audience”.
With this move, Swansea joins a growing list of EFL clubs attracting celebrity ownership, combining sport, entertainment, and international visibility.
