The league leaders dominate as the playoff battle heats up with Venezia and Reggio Emilia on the rise

Trento continues its dominance in Serie A basketball with a commanding 92-79 victory on the road against Varese. A well-rounded performance secured another crucial win, led by Ford’s 19 points, Ellis with 15, and Cale and Lamb contributing 14 each. Varese fought hard, with Alviti scoring 19 and Tyus delivering a monster double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to stop Trento’s momentum.

Chasing the leaders, Virtus Bologna and Brescia remain in contention. Virtus crushed Tortona with a dominant 98-66 victory, fueled by Holiday (14 points), Hackett (13), and Grazulis (12). Brescia edged past Trieste in a tight 93-90 thriller, thanks to Burnell’s 22 points and Bilan’s 20-point, 8-rebound performance.

Trapani suffered a surprising setback, falling 85-80 to Cremona and losing ground in the standings. Despite solid contributions from Petrucelli (16 points), Alibegovic (14), Galloway (13), and Horton (12), Trapani couldn’t stop a determined Cremona side, which was powered by Willis (17 points), Davis (15 with 8 assists), and a strong 11-point effort from Zampini and Owens.

In the playoff race, Reggio Emilia pulled off a crucial overtime victory against Treviso (90-94). Forced into extra time by a last-second shot from Harrison, Priftis’ team sealed the win with two clutch three-pointers from Cheatham (13 points). Winston and Smith led the charge with 19 points each, while Barford added 14 and 8 rebounds. Treviso’s efforts weren’t enough, despite Olisevicius’ 19 points, Bowman’s 17, and Paulicap’s 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Venezia moved within striking distance of the playoff spots with a resounding 91-68 win over Napoli. Kabengele dominated with 23 points, while McGruder added 20. Napoli, struggling throughout the game, found some positives in Treier and Totè, both scoring 18 points.
